The Turkish politician called on the country’s authorities to withdraw from NATO.

The Turkish politician called on the country’s authorities to withdraw from NATO.

Turkey is obliged to withdraw from NATO, said Etem Sancak, deputy chairman of the ”Motherland” party.

“NATO is forcing us to take these actions with its provocations. Finally, it is trying to oppose us to our neighbor Greece. Turkey will leave NATO in five or six months. It is trying to drag us into a funnel in the Middle East. Finally, you see actions against the Koran in Sweden and the Netherlands . Withdrawal from NATO has become urgent and obligatory,” he said.

According to Sancak, public opinion polls show that 80 percent of Turkish residents consider the United States to be a country pursuing a hostile and destructive policy against Ankara.

“Again, recently the Turkish people have become sympathetic to Russia and Putin. The people saw the approaching threats and went ahead of the governments,” the politician concluded.

Last Saturday, Rasmus Paludan, leader of the Danish far-right Hard Deal party, burned a Koran outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, having previously received permission from the Swedish authorities to hold the rally.

On the same day, the Turkish Foreign Ministry called the incident a clear violation of the obligations of the tripartite memorandum signed by Sweden to prevent the propaganda of terrorist organizations.

In addition, two weeks ago, supporters of the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) held a rally in Stockholm in which they shouted insults at President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

As the Turkish leader himself said on Monday, Stockholm should no longer count on Ankara’s support for its NATO membership bid.
