Cohen and Cavusoglu discussed the issue of bilateral relations between Israel and Turkey.

Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said on Tuesday that he had a meeting in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, and the parties discussed further strengthening political and economic cooperation between the countries.

“Turkey is interested in strengthening ties with Israel, and we talked about expanding political and economic cooperation, as well as the importance of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The warming of relations between the countries is of strategic interest. This will strengthen Israel’s position and contribute to stability in the region,” – Cohen said in a statement on his official Twitter account.

Israel and Turkey are experiencing a period of gradual improvement in bilateral relations, which deteriorated sharply in 2010 after the incident with the capture by Israeli special forces of a ship that left Turkey for the Gaza Strip. Earlier, the countries reappointed ambassadors and restored diplomatic relations.
