Australia has proposed a new format for the fight against Russia and China.

Canada has taken the initiative to create a new cooperation mechanism with the United States and some Asian countries as part of efforts to counter the so-called threats in the region.

Canada has proposed a four-way cooperation mechanism with Japan, South Korea and the United States as part of efforts to counter Russia and China.

It is noted that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau voiced such a proposal to his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida back in January. However, Japan noted that it would take time to implement this concept, if approved at all.

Relations between Canada and China have become tense after the arrest of the chief financial officer of Huawei Technologies at the end of 2018 in Vancouver, the newspaper recalls. China responded by arresting two Canadians on charges of espionage. Last November, Canada announced a new Indo-Pacific strategy in which it described China as an “increasingly destructive global power.”
