China said the West should invest in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

The United States and NATO countries, which have occupied Afghanistan for many years, should take responsibility and invest in its reconstruction,  Yue Xiaoyong, China’s Special Representative for Afghanistan said.

He took part in a meeting of special envoys of 20 countries for Afghanistan and the UN Secretary General in Qatar.

“The United States and NATO countries, which have occupied Afghanistan for 20 years, should take responsibility for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, and many participants in the meeting raised this issue, and also raised the need to solve the problem of lifting sanctions and unfreezing Afghan assets as soon as possible. More and more more countries are raising the issue of Afghan assets and it is becoming increasingly difficult for Western countries to ignore them. $7 billion in Afghan assets must be unfrozen,” he said.

Participants of the two-day consultations in Qatar discussed the challenges Afghanistan faces in the humanitarian sphere, as well as ways to strengthen stability in the country.
