The EU claims to have come up with a new way to punish Russia.

The European Commission has proposed introducing the ability to restrict exports to third countries as part of the fight against circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions.

As it became known yesterday, this proposal of the European Commission as part of the eleventh package of restrictive measures was sent to member states.

It is worth noting that it is planned to create a legal possibility to restrict exports to third countries as a deterrent in case of suspicion of circumventing sanctions. If this is not enough, then at the second stage they can introduce a ban on the export of certain goods. Particular attention will be paid to dual-use products. Examples include night vision devices used by hunters and security companies, as well as soldiers.

The permanent representatives of the 27 EU member states will discuss the proposal next Wednesday. The goal is to pass the eleventh package of sanctions before the end of this month, the article says.
