Biden vowed to stay in touch on the budget during the G7 summit.

Biden vowed to stay in touch on the budget during the G7 summit.

US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that he would remain in constant contact with his non-default negotiating team during his upcoming trip to Japan for the G7 summit.

“I will be in constant contact with my team during the G7 trip,” Biden told reporters, confirming that groups of representatives from both sides have been created to continue negotiations on the national debt ceiling, which will “meet and resolve differences.”

He said that the first meeting in this format had already taken place the night before and would be held again on Wednesday.

“Negotiations with congressional leaders will continue in the coming days and will continue until we reach an agreement,” Biden said.

Biden said he hopes that next Sunday, when he returns from a trip to Japan, he will hold a press conference on the topic. The US President reiterated that he was confident that an agreement on the budget would be reached and America would not be in default.

Later Wednesday, Biden will leave Washington for Japan to attend the G-7 summit. Earlier, due to the budget crisis, he canceled a visit to Papua New Guinea and Australia, where he was supposed to hold a quadripartite summit with the leaders of Australia, India and Japan.
