During the working session of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, the leaders of the G7 countries discussed cooperation with other countries to resolve various international problems, including poverty, energy supply and finance.

“The G7 leaders reaffirmed that they share the importance of the principles of the UN Charter and the letter of the law, which should guide the international community, carefully responding to the various needs of developing countries and countries with economies in transition on issues such as poverty, energy supply and financing,” Japanese Foreign Ministry press release notes.

In addition, the leaders of the G7, together with the international community, intend to make efforts to reduce the financial gap and support the G20 chairman for the successful implementation of the G20 summit in New Delhi in September this year.

In 2023, the chairmanship of the G7 passed to Japan. The G-7 summit started on May 19 in Hiroshima, Japan and will last until May 21 inclusive.
In addition to the G7 countries, India, Australia, Brazil, South Korea, Vietnam and three other countries have received an invitation to attend the Hiroshima summit: Indonesia chairing the ASEAN, the Cook Islands chairing the Pacific Islands Forum, and the Union of the Comoros chairing the African Union. In addition to these countries, the heads of seven organizations received invitations to the Hiroshima summit: the UN, the International Energy Agency, the International Monetary Fund, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the World Bank, the WHO and the WTO.
