Half of the staff of the Russian Embassy will be reduced at the request of Romania

The press service of the Romanian Foreign Ministry said that more than 50 employees of the Russian embassy will have to leave Romania within 30 days.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that at the request of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bucharest was informed today, June 8, 2023, of the decision of the Romanian authorities to reduce the diplomatic and technical-administrative staff of the representative office of the Russian Federation in Romania by limiting its number to a level close to the number of diplomatic and technical-administrative the staff of the Romanian representative office in the Russian Federation,” the release says.

Thus, Russia should reduce 51 employees: 21 diplomats and 30 technical and administrative staff. In fact, 11 diplomats and 29 staff members should remain at the embassy.
