France intends to strengthen its partnership with African countries.

France intends to develop partnerships with African countries and is interested in maintaining mutually beneficial relations with the countries of the continent. This was stated by French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet at a joint press conference in Nairobi with his Kenyan counterpart Musalia Mudavadi.

“France’s calling will be to renew and develop balanced, mutually respectful partnerships with African countries,” Sejournet said. “Africa is not only about the Sahel, there are many [other opportunities for] successful partnerships.”

According to the minister, “the African continent is on the path to becoming a cultural, economic and diplomatic force that will play a significant role in the global balance.”

Relations between France and some of its former African colonies are in decline. We are talking about the Sahara-Sahel region, in particular Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, where coups took place. The new authorities of these states refused to cooperate with France, after which Paris was forced to withdraw its troops from there.
