Meghan Markle’s dad reveals tears over big day

Thomas Markle has revealed Meghan was upset and even cried when he told her he would not be attending her wedding day. During the interview with Good Morning Britain, Mr Markle confessed he was extremely proud that the whole world was watching his daughter, BBC reported on Monday.

Duchess Meghan’s father is recovering well from his heart surgery that made impossible his attending Meghan’s wedding ceremony. He expressed his disappointment at not walking her down the aisle but said it was the greatest replacement. Despite, fiancee’s father was a bit jealous, he said he was honoured and even cannot think of a better replacement than someone like Prince Charles.

“I was thrilled to tears he was doing that, I just wish it had been my hand holding hers not his,”

Thomas told ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Monday.

In the lengthy interview, Mr Markle also revealed what he said when Prince Harry asked to marry his daughter, his political conversations with his new son-in-law and whether a royal baby could soon be on the way.  Mr Markle said he told his future son-in-law:

“You are a gentleman, promise me you will never raise your hand against my daughter and of course I will grant you my permission.”

According to Meghan’s father, he thoughtHarry is a “great” and “interesting guy” with whom his daughter will definitely have a happy family.

Why Meghan invited only her mother for a big day

The only member of the duchess’s family to attend the wedding was Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. That arose many questions but Thomas said his daughter made a really smart move when she doesn’t welcome anyone from her family but mother.

Speaking about her being at the wedding, Thomas said:

“My ex-wife is a beautiful woman. I thought she looked very good. I kind of wish she was sitting next to someone.”

When GMB asked about his new family, Mr Markle said he wanted to have “a nice, normal relationship” with the royals and added he would “love to meet” the British monarch.

“I’ve had respect for that woman since I was a child. I think she’s one of the most incredible women in the world,”

he said.
