Tajikistan recommends that citizens do not use Turkey for transit travel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan recommends its citizens not to use Turkey as a country for transit travel after information appeared about Ankara renewing the visa regime for Tajik citizens who hold ordinary civil passports. This is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.

“Citizens of Tajikistan who plan to use the Turkish direction as transit to travel to third countries are recommended to consider other travel routes, that is, not through the territory of Turkey,” Shokhin Samadi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a commentary.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also previously reported that Turkey should have notified about the resumption of the visa regime in advance, but so far Tajikistan has not received information about this through diplomatic channels.

“In this regard, before receiving official information from the Turkish side, we recommend that citizens of Tajikistan intending to visit Turkey carefully prepare the necessary documents for the planned trip,” the foreign ministry noted.

The Tajik side, as noted by the Foreign Ministry, is considering the issue of introducing a visa regime for Turkish citizens in accordance with the principle of reciprocity.
