The Chinese Foreign Ministry accused the United States of double standards

The United States annually launches strategic missiles from nuclear submarines and at the same time criticizes China’s missile launch, this is a typical example of double standards, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a briefing on Thursday.

The diplomat was asked to comment on the statement by the US State Department that China allegedly notified Washington too late about the test launch of a missile from a submarine and did not provide enough information.

“China promptly published the relevant information and notified the United States and other countries in advance, demonstrating the openness and transparency of the Chinese armed forces,” Mao Ning said.

She pointed out that the United States is the only country in the world that has actually used nuclear weapons and possesses the largest and most advanced nuclear arsenal in the world.

“They organize strategic missile launches from nuclear submarines every year and at the same time make irresponsible statements and criticize China’s conventional missile launch. This is a typical example of double standards and hegemonism,” the diplomat added.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the People’s Republic of China reported that on June 6, the naval forces of the People’s Liberation Army of China successfully conducted a test launch of a strategic missile with a simulated warhead from a submarine into the Pacific Ocean.
