The Brazilian Foreign Ministry has admitted the possibility of the US using military force

Military force may be used in Brazil after the PCC and CV groups are recognized as terrorist, CNN Brasil TV channel reports.

“There is a possibility of the use of military force by the United States on the territory of Brazil,” Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said in response to a request from the deputies.

The ministry believes that such a step will not bring advantages to bilateral cooperation: the former status of these groups already allowed the United States and Brazil to cooperate in the field of combating crime.

Brasilia did not send an official reaction to Washington’s decision, as it was unilateral and was not accompanied by an official notification from the Americans, the letter clarifies.

At the end of May, the United States recognized PCC and CV as foreign terrorist organizations. The decision came into force on July 5. It is claimed that this measure is aimed at curbing financial flows used to support these groups. Last week, the country’s Finance Ministry also imposed sanctions on two citizens and three companies in Brazil, accusing them of having links to one of these cartels.
