The first container ship arrived in Iran after the lifting of the US blockade

The first container ship after the lifting of the American blockade arrived at the Iranian port of Shahid Rajai, the IRIB State Television and Radio Company reports.

“The first container ship has arrived at the port of Shahid Rajai,” the message says.

Last Monday, US President Donald Trump announced the lifting of the naval blockade of Iran after the deal was concluded. At the same time, according to the Pentagon’s central command, the American ships will remain in the region to monitor compliance with the agreement.

On the night of June 18, Iran and the United States remotely signed a memorandum that presupposes the end of the military conflict that began on February 28.

The agreement also defines the time frame when Washington will lift the naval blockade and Tehran will restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

In addition, Iran undertakes not to obtain nuclear weapons, and the issue of the Iranian nuclear program should be settled by a separate agreement.

The parties will hold negotiations on this issue within 60 days. For Tehran, the result should be the lifting of sanctions against it.

At the same time, on Saturday, Iran once again announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israel’s aggression against Lebanon. In turn, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance claims that Washington sees no evidence of the closure of shipping. He expressed confidence in the strength of the truce, saying that American negotiators had already arrived in Switzerland to continue technical consultations.
