There has been a nationwide power outage in Jamaica

A nationwide power outage occurred on Friday evening in Jamaica, the country’s energy minister Daryl Vaz said.

“Power outage across the island. I am waiting for an update from the president of JPS,” Vaz wrote on the social network X.

According to the minister, the head of the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) energy company, Hugh Grant, is heading to the emergency response center.

The Jamaica Gleaner newspaper reports on its blog that information has been received about power outages in various parishes of the island state.
