Casey Affleck and his Oscar hopes for ‘Manchester by the sea’

Casey Affleck as an actor and director was always overshadowed by his brother, Ben. But these days, after the releasing ‘Manchester by the sea’, Casey became a real famous person. He was nominated for the prestigious Oscar and at the same time was involved in the sex scandal.

Casey Affleck is the younger brother of Ben, he earned an Academy Award nomination for The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Casey had many roles in the different movies but he preferred to be a director. So, he refocused his energy on an experimental documentary about his brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix.

Actually, the Affleck’s documentary I’m Still Here turned mockumentary film, which tells the chronicle of Phoenix’s fake evolution from leading man to aspiring rapper. The film complete with notorious TV interviews and the general appearance of personal and professional implosion.

Critics were angry with this epic documentary, even Ben Affleck agreed with them, saying:

“I thought it was a really smart, creative thing that nobody else had thought of. But he did it at the expense of his acting career.”

Another movie ‘Manchester by the sea’ made Casey a frontrunner for the Best Actor Oscar. In the film, Affleck plays a man whose life has been upended by a tragic event. The movie is sad, dark and emotionally exhausting performance.
