In Slovakia, 171 people were hospitalized due to the heat

More than 170 people in Slovakia have been hospitalized over the past three days due to the heat that persists in the republic, the Slovak newspaper Dennik N. reported.

“Over the past three days, rescuers have registered 308 thermal collapses, 171 people have been transported to hospitals. The heat will reach its peak today, warnings of the third stage (maximum danger level) are in effect in most of the territory, the temperature is expected to reach 40 degrees,” the newspaper said on Monday.

According to rescuers, the most common cause of heat stroke is not the heat itself, but a combination of factors when people ignore the drinking regime, are outside during the hottest hours, engage in heavy physical activity or drink alcohol, which increases dehydration.
