Hezbollah considers the agreement with Israel a disgrace and a loss of sovereignty

Naim Qassem, the leader of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, said that the agreement signed in Washington between Lebanon and Israel is not valid, calling it a “loss of sovereignty.”

The day before, representatives of Lebanon and Israel signed a framework agreement in Washington with the mediation of the United States on the settlement of the conflict.

“This agreement has no force, the provisions of the Iranian-American memorandum of understanding must be fulfilled. The framework agreement concluded in Washington is a humiliation, a disgrace and a loss of sovereignty,” he said in his speech. It was broadcast by Al Manar TV channel.

He said that the clause of the agreement that links the withdrawal of Israeli troops with the disarmament of Hezbollah is an extremely dangerous proposal that crosses all “red lines.”

On the night of June 18, Iran and the United States remotely signed a memorandum that presupposes the end of the military conflict that began on February 28. The memorandum also sets a timeline for when the United States will lift the naval blockade and Iran will restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
