The administrative center of Hainan Province, the city of Haikou and China’s leading resort of Sanya, as well as the city of Guangzhou (southern province of Guangdong), with the participation of the Russian diplomatic mission, held the Immortal Regiment action on Monday and honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
The procession was attended by dozens of compatriots, as well as citizens of China and some CIS countries. They carried portraits of those who during the war fought against fascism on the fronts and in the rear.
“The Great Patriotic War ended 77 years ago. The victory was won thanks to the unparalleled heroism of the soldiers of the Red Army and the unbending will of the home front workers, at the cost of huge sacrifices and inhuman efforts,” said Alexander Chernousov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Guangzhou.
He recalled that the Russians fell to meet the next anniversary of the Victory in a difficult international situation. “Now more than ever, it is important not to forget the lessons of the Great Patriotic War, to carefully preserve and pass on to future generations the memory of those who defended their native land and, ultimately, us from the enemy with their own breasts,” the Russian diplomat stressed.
