Poland prepared to do without gas from Yamal-Europe

Poland is ready to do without gas supplied from Germany via the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. This was announced by the Minister of Climate and Environment of Poland Anna Moskva.

The minister indicated that the country was ready to abandon this reverse and added that now Polish gas storage facilities are 85 percent full. Moscow assured that even in the event of the closure of Yamal-Europe, Poland would continue to function. The Minister recalled the supply of LNG and the new Baltic Pipe gas pipeline, which is going to be launched by the end of the year.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin assured that Poland is coping with the country’s gas supply even without supplies from Russia. He is confident that Poland is best prepared in Europe for the gas crisis. Sasin noted that Polish gas storage facilities are 84 percent full, while the European average is around 30 percent.

On the morning of April 27, Gazprom completely stopped gas supplies under existing contracts to Bulgaria and Poland. The reason for the termination of pumping was the refusal of these countries to pay in rubles.
