China’s envoy to the UN urged to prevent a cold war over Ukraine

NATO should not use the conflict in Ukraine to “stir up a new Cold War,” Zhang Jun, China’s envoy to the UN, said at a meeting of the Security Council.

In addition, he stressed that China “categorically objects” to the involvement of NATO in the affairs of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the creation of an analogue of this alliance there. According to him, the alliance is trying to “artificially create disagreements and contradictions” in the region.

Zhang also noted that Beijing is “closely following NATO’s strategic adjustments and is extremely alarmed by the alliance’s plans to make adjustments to its strategic concept.”
