The Hungarian Foreign Ministry called sanctions against Russia the worst response from the EU.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the normal reaction of European leaders who supported the sanctions, which brought the European economy closer to recession, would be their resignation.

“The EU wants new sanctions only in order to somehow justify its erroneous decisions that are harmful, because after the statement that the sanctions mean a dead end, it will be necessary to name those responsible,” Szijjarto quoted Szijjártó as saying at the “Say No to Sanctions” event!”

According to him, “then the leaders who supported the sanctions should have come forward, said that because of them the European economy was approaching a recession, and resign. That would be a normal reaction from those who harmed Europe imposing sanctions,” the minister said.

Szijjarto stressed that the EU gave the “worst response” to the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine by imposing sanctions, and called on the country’s citizens to speak out against them during national consultations.

“Hungary buys gas from Russia, because without it it is physically impossible to solve the problem of gas supply, the infrastructure in this region has just developed like that,” he added.

Earlier Thursday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that he had already filled out an online questionnaire, where he answered negatively to all questions.
