Former US President Donald Trump is under arrest and awaiting charges, CNN reported.

Supporters and opponents of the politician gathered outside the building in Manhattan. Dissenters with Trump are calling for the arrest of the former president, accusing him of lying, a support group is waving flags with the politician’s name and the inscriptions “Trump or death.”

A grand jury in New York voted to indict Trump last week. According to CNN, the Manhattan prosecutor’s office is ready to file charges against Trump on more than 30 counts of business fraud.

Trump, commenting on the situation, called the allegations against him political persecution and interference in elections at the highest level in history. At the same time, he called the United States a “third world country.” The ex-president emphasized that he could not count on a fair trial in New York. He urged supporters to protest if he was charged.

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy accused Manhattan Attorney Alvin Bragg of unprecedented abuse of power. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, considered one of Trump’s main rivals in the 2024 US Republican primaries, said the state would not facilitate the extradition of the former head of state given the questionable circumstances of the case.

It is assumed that this is the case of pornographic actress Stormy Daniels, who was allegedly paid a large sum of money for her silence about her alleged affair with Trump.
The ex-president himself denied both the connection with Daniels and any illegal actions on his part. He also stated that this is a political persecution related to his intention to run for the presidency in 2024.
