Hantavirus infection has been confirmed in two Britons from the cruise ship MV Hondius, and another case is suspected on the island of Tristan da Cunha, the British Health Agency (UKHSA) said on Friday.

“Two British citizens have been confirmed infected with hantavirus, and another case is suspected on the island of Tristan da Cunha,” the agency said in a statement on its website.

According to the agency, the British authorities are preparing for the arrival of the MV Hondius liner in Tenerife on Sunday.

“Currently, none of the British citizens on board have symptoms, they are being closely monitored,” the agency said.

The WHO previously reported that seven cases of hantavirus infection had been confirmed on the MV Hondius liner. Three people have died, one is in intensive care in South Africa, and two more require medical evacuation.
