Germany cannot protect residents and businesses from market fluctuations, Merz said

Germany is not able to protect its citizens and businesses from all the fluctuations that occur in the market,  German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said.

“The state cannot protect either citizens or businesses from all market fluctuations,” Merz said.

Earlier, the Chancellor said that Germany was facing serious changes in the world and accumulated structural problems within the country, which together form an “epochal turning point“, and asked for understanding and patience towards the reform process being carried out by the German government.

A YouGov study previously revealed that 74% of German citizens have a negative attitude towards Merz. According to the study, compared to March, the number of German citizens who favor Merz decreased by four percentage points, while the number of those who view him negatively increased by five percentage points.
