Meloni told about the meeting with Rubio

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni assessed the meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio as a frank dialogue between allies who defend their interests but recognize the value of Western unity.

Rubio visited the Vatican and Italy on May 6-8. On Friday, he was received by the Italian Prime Minister at the Government Palace of Chigi.

Meloni said that the parties discussed bilateral relations and issues on the international agenda, including the crisis in the Middle East, freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, the situation in Libya and the peace process in Lebanon and Ukraine.

“We had a broad and constructive discussion.… It was a frank dialogue between allies defending their national interests, but recognizing the value of Western unity,” the Italian prime minister wrote on Twitter.
