Half (50%) of Polish residents believe that the situation in the country is developing in a bad direction, according to the results of a public opinion poll conducted by the CBOS research center.

Sociologists found out that in the first half of July, 28% of respondents believed that the situation in Poland was developing in the right direction, 50% did not agree with this, and 22% found it difficult to answer.

“In July, there was a deterioration in almost all the analyzed indicators of public opinion. The greatest changes were recorded in the respondents’ assessments of the political situation and forecasts of living standards,” the report says.

At the same time, it is noted that for more than a year now, more respondents have assessed the state of the Polish economy positively than negatively.

“Despite the decline recorded this month, respondents’ estimates of their own financial situation and standard of living also remain relatively high,” the report adds.

Assessments of the situation in Poland have worsened compared to June. A month earlier, in mid–June, 31% of respondents believed that the situation in Poland was developing in the right direction, 48% disagreed, and 21% had no opinion on the issue. In July, the percentage of respondents who rated the situation as good decreased by three percentage points compared to June, while the percentage of those who rated it as bad increased by two points.

The perception of the general situation in Poland depends on the party preferences of the respondents. Positive assessments prevail over negative ones among supporters of the parties forming the government.: The “Civil Coalition” and the “New Left”. Critical assessments prevail among voters of opposition parties, with the highest percentage recorded among voters of the Confederation of the Polish Crown.

The study was conducted from July 2 to July 12 on a sample of 938 Polish adults. No error data is provided.
