Flavio Bolsonaro promised to provide smartphones to 70 million Brazilian women

Brazil’s tentative presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro said that if he wins the election, he intends to provide Internet access to 70 million women in the country, and is also discussing the possibility of providing mobile phones to those who cannot purchase them.

“We have already held talks with mobile operators who are fully interested in helping us, helping the government to provide these 70 million women with access via mobile phones. In addition, as part of the election campaign, we are discussing the possibility of providing mobile phones themselves to people who do not have the opportunity to have them,” Bolsonaro said during the presentation of his Brasil por Elas program on his YouTube channel.

According to the politician, access to the Internet will allow women to use a single digital platform for public services, as well as a virtual assistant with artificial intelligence named Maria. Through it, it will be possible to receive information by voice or text, sign up for medical examinations, look for kindergartens and jobs, open your own business, receive loans for entrepreneurship and seek help.

Bolsonaro noted that the program is aimed at expanding digital accessibility and in the future may also extend to the elderly.
