The development and application of AI should not harm the diversity of world civilizations and the uniqueness of national cultures so that it remains under human control, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday.

“The development and application of AI should not harm the diversity of world civilizations and the uniqueness of national cultures,” Xi Jinping said at the opening ceremony of the World Conference on Artificial Intelligence.

He noted the need to shape AI values in accordance with the common values of all mankind, effectively use AI technologies, strengthen mutual understanding and tolerance between different civilizations, and promote exchange and mutual learning between them.


The World Conference on Artificial Intelligence, dedicated to the theme “Partnership in the field of artificial intelligence for a brighter future“, is taking place in Shanghai from July 17th to 20th.
