Donald Trump said that after successful negotiations with the Middle East leadership, he was abandoning the decision to charge a fee for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

“I have decided to replace the 20% compensation fee with trade and investment deals that various Gulf states will conclude with the United States,” he wrote on the Truth Social network.

According to him, these investments will be enough to create millions of jobs in the United States, while they will bring significant benefits to these countries themselves.

On July 8, the United States announced the termination of the truce with Iran, accusing it of attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

A few days later, Tehran announced the closure of the sea passage until the Americans stopped interfering in the affairs of the region.

In response, Trump ordered the resumption of the blockade in Hormuz, which, as he claims, will only apply to Iranian ships and cargo. From the rest of the countries, he proposed to charge a toll for passage.

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi, announced the same intention, promising to set fairer prices.
