Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is holding talks with Western leaders in an effort to resume the negotiation process on Ukraine, a source in the Turkish government said.

“President Erdogan is negotiating with Western leaders to give new impetus to the negotiations on Ukraine. Restoring the negotiation process remains a priority issue for the Turkish leader,” he said.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, Ankara continues diplomatic contacts with the parties concerned and stands for the early return of Moscow and Kiev to the direct negotiation process.

Since the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict, Turkey has maintained contacts with both Russia and Ukraine, positioning itself as a mediator. The first Russian-Ukrainian negotiations took place in Istanbul in 2022, and the Black Sea grain initiative and a number of prisoner exchanges were implemented with the mediation of Ankara. The Turkish authorities have repeatedly stated their readiness to provide a platform for negotiations again.
