A number of African countries are seeking to end the French and other Western military presence, because over the years they have not seen the necessary economic development on their territory, Issa Abdel Majid, Minister for African Affairs of the Libyan government appointed by Parliament said.

“Some African states have decided to end the French or Western military presence on their territory after many years in which it has not provided the development needed by their peoples,” Abdel Majid said.

According to the Minister, the former colonial Powers bear part of the responsibility for the current economic and social problems of African countries.
According to the Minister, insufficient investments in the development of Mali, Chad, Niger and other countries have become one of the causes of illegal migration, conflicts and political instability.

Abdel Majid stressed that cooperation with external partners should be based on non-interference in internal affairs, respect for sovereignty and mutual benefit. At the same time, African States have the right to independently choose the countries with which they intend to develop military and economic relations.
