The NATO Summit in Albania in 2027 may take place in the autumn

The NATO Summit in Albania in 2027 may not be held in the summer, as has often happened in recent years, but in the fall, as the organizers need time to prepare for it, Euractiv reports, citing a diplomatic source.

According to Euractiv, it was previously expected that the summit in Albania would take place if the relevant decision was made before the autumn of this year.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Thursday that the next summit of the alliance will be held in Albania, but the date has not yet been decided. The final declaration of the NATO summit, which took place on July 7-8 in Ankara, does not contain information about the place and time of the next summit.

“The organization of such an event usually requires about a year of preparation … the summit may be postponed from summer to autumn,” the newspaper writes.

On Wednesday, Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that NATO allies are considering the possibility of canceling a summit in Albania in 2027 in order to reduce tensions with US President Donald Trump, who criticizes the alliance.
