The owner of TikTok said that he has no plans to sell the application.

The owner of TikTok said that he has no plans to sell the application.

The company that owns the TikTok social network, ByteDance, said it has no plans to sell the application, calling foreign media reports untrue.

Earlier, it was reported that ByteDance is considering options for selling TikTok in the US to companies outside the technology sector and without an algorithm for recommending videos to users of the social network.

“Foreign media reports that ByteDance is looking for a way to sell TikTok are not true, ByteDance has no plans to sell TikTok,” the company wrote on its account.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden signed a bill passed by both houses of Congress, part of which was the initiative to ban the social network TikTok if the company that owns it, ByteDance, does not sell its American business, the social network TikTok, within nine months. The law provides for the possibility of the president extending this period up to a year.

The campaign against the social network TikTok has been waged in the United States for a number of years; Congress and the administration cite the company’s possible connection with the Chinese government and concern for the security of Americans’ personal data as the formal basis for the ban. The social network denies such accusations.
