The President of Romania promised Zelensky support in all areas.

Bucharest will provide strong support to Kyiv in all areas, including the security sector, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said on Thursday after a meeting in Vilnius with Vladimir Zelensky.

The summit of 12 states participating in the Three Seas Initiative (TriSeas) began its work in Vilnius on Thursday.

“On the sidelines of the summit, I met with Ukrainian President Zelensky on Thursday. I reaffirmed our strong support for Ukraine in all areas, as well as our determination to strengthen regional connectivity, sustainable cross-border cooperation and energy security,” Iohannis wrote on the social network X.

The press service of the Romanian leader also noted that at the summit Iohannis will touch upon the prospect of expanding cooperation with Moldova, which, along with Ukraine, is an associated state party to the Three Seas Initiative.


The Three Seas Initiative unites Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Romania, Greece, covering the territories between the three seas – the Baltic, Black and Adriatic. Its stated goal is to strengthen cooperation, primarily for the development of infrastructures in the energy, transport and digital sectors, which will have a positive impact on economic growth, cohesion and security of the EU.
