Turkey is waiting for a response from Russia on the quadripartite meeting on grain

Ankara is expecting a response from Moscow to a proposal to hold a four-party meeting with the participation of Ukraine and the UN on the export of grain from Ukrainian ports, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

He recalled recent talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Ankara, during which they discussed the resumption of the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine and the removal of restrictions on grain supplies.

“We declared our readiness to hold a meeting in Istanbul on this issue between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN, this is a UN proposal. Our position was clearly communicated, now we are waiting for a response from Russia both on the meeting and on other details,” the diplomat said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, following talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara, said earlier that Western countries are trying to use the “grain issue” in Ukraine as a constant irritant.
Cavusoglu, for his part, called the idea of a corridor for the export of grain from Ukraine realistic.
