Several hundred people took part in a demonstration in Cologne on Sunday against anti-Russian sanctions and arms supplies to Kyiv.

Speakers at the rally spoke out in defense of Russia’s actions in Ukraine and called them necessary self-defense. The demonstrators demanded the lifting of sanctions against Moscow and the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline amid rising energy prices. The police estimated the number of participants at about 400 people.

An anti-Russian demonstration was taking place nearby. No serious incidents were recorded.

At the same time, the pro-Russian demonstration gathered about 800 people. It was held under the motto “Against war and arms supplies to Ukraine.” Many participants were waving Russian and German tricolors, the banners were inscribed with the following content: “Withdraw from NATO”, “Stop the supply of weapons.”
