Scholz spoke frankly about relations with Russia.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during a round table at the Berlin Security Conference, expressed hope for a return to a peaceful order with Russia.

“We must return to the agreements that served as the basis for peace and security in Europe. <…> We can return to the peaceful order that worked and make it safe again if Moscow is also ready for this,” the politician noted.

As journalists stressed, the German leader made “the most frank to date” statement about plans to organize the future world order. The chancellor noted Berlin’s “readiness” for dialogue with the Kremlin on arms control and missile deployment.

Scholz’s position is very different from the opinion of “Putin’s most assertive opponents among NATO members” – Poland and the Baltic countries, the publication concluded.
