A large spill of diesel fuel was discovered around a vessel that crashed into the Francis Scott Key Key Bridge in Baltimore, the American television channel CBS reports, citing a statement from the local fire service.

“The agency… reported that a lot of diesel fuel was found in the water around the vessel,” the TV channel reported.

The Singapore-flagged cargo ship Dali, which was sailing from Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka, crashed into the bridge, the coast guard told the television station.

Fox Baltimore previously reported that the Francis Scott Key Key Bridge collapsed in the city of Baltimore in the US state of Maryland after a ship crashed into it. Traffic was blocked in both directions. According to radio station WTOP, several cars fell into the water.

CBS reported that Baltimore authorities declared the bridge collapse a “multiple casualty incident.”

The Maryland Transportation Authority later confirmed that the Baltimore bridge collapsed due to a collision with a vessel.
