Borrell called retaliatory sanctions against the European Union a mistake.

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, believes that countries imposing retaliatory sanctions against the European Union are making a mistake.

On Monday, Brussels hosts a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

“All those who were sanctioned then take retaliatory measures. Russia, and China, and Iran have done this. This is part of the game. I believe this is a mistake. Especially when it comes to sanctions against parliamentarians for being they are doing their job,” Borrell said.

According to the head of European diplomacy, the work to return to the Iranian nuclear deal, which, among other things, implies the lifting of sanctions against Iran, should be continued.

“The best way to ensure that Iran does not become a nuclear country is the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action,” he explained.
