Brazil registers record daily spike in corona cases

Brazil’s health authorities on Thursday reported over 100,000 new COVID-19 cases for the first time since the pandemic. The total number of cases surpassed 12.32 million, including 10.77 mln recoveries.

Brazil faced the deepest-ever health crisis while the COVID-19 hits again. In the last 24 hours, 2,777 people died due to the novel pathogen and 100,158 new cases have been registered in the Latin American country.

Brazil with a population of more than 210 million, remains the country most affected by the COVID-19, followed by the US. The situation deteriorated with the spread of P1, the more contagious strain of COVID-19. In 18 of 26 Brazilian states and federal regions, intensive care units were declared to have at least 90% occupancy.

Since its start in December 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed over 2.74 million lives in 191 countries and regions of the globe, Andalou Agency reported.
