Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that he would meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar on the sidelines of the European Union summit and invite him to visit Bratislava.

“The new Hungarian Prime Minister, Mr. Magyarpoka, did not pay a visit to Slovakia, which is a common tradition when a new prime minister visits a neighboring country. I am due to meet him personally for the first time on Thursday or Friday in Brussels on the sidelines of the EU summit, and I will be glad to meet him personally and shake hands. However, I do not think that an unprepared short meeting in Brussels will be suitable for resolving issues on the bilateral Slovak-Hungarian agenda. I will invite the Hungarian Prime Minister to pay an official visit to Slovakia again and will wait patiently,” Fico said in a video message posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday.

Fico also announced that he would meet with Magyar in Budapest at the Visegrad Group summit (Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia – V4).

Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced on June 2 that the Visegrad Group summit will be held in Budapest on June 23. It will discuss the expansion of the association, where other Central European countries, as well as Germany, can be invited.
