The text of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States has been agreed on the main points, this was confirmed by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagai, according to Press TV.
⠀
“As for the wording, the text is practically consistent in its main points. The problem is that the contradictory position of the United States has always caused disruptions in this process,” the diplomat said.
⠀
The Axios publication, citing sources, claims that the Iranian side has already approved the agreement at a high level, and it is awaiting approval by Supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
⠀
Earlier, Bagai called US President Donald Trump’s statements about the upcoming signing of a peace agreement speculative, stressing that “nothing has been finalized yet.” He noted that Washington has repeatedly changed its position over the past couple of months, repeatedly violating the ceasefire.
⠀
On Thursday, Trump said that the agreement could be signed as early as next weekend. According to him, this could happen in Europe in the presence of Vice President J.D. Vance. According to him, Iran will commit itself in the memorandum of understanding not to seek nuclear weapons. The lifting of the naval blockade will also be part of the deal.
⠀
Earlier in the day, the American leader announced the cancellation of planned attacks on the Islamic Republic, as discussions with Iran moved to the highest level and were approved by the country’s leadership.
⠀
On Wednesday, the head of the White House accused Iran of delaying the settlement, and on Thursday night, the United States attacked the south of the country. The president threatened the enemy with complete defeat if he did not make a deal.

In response, Tehran completely closed the passage through the Strait of Hormuz and announced the first phase of an offensive operation using missiles and UAVs. The IRGC reported strikes on targets in the Middle East, including air bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. According to media reports, the military also attacked bases in Iraq, Jordan and the forces of the Fifth Fleet of the US Navy.
