The European institutes could form a working group on the Ukrainian negotiations, the head of EU diplomacy, Kaya Kallas said.
⠀
“I believe that we have EU institutions that could form a team, because it’s always teamwork. I have worked as a lawyer for most of my professional life and participated in many negotiations. It’s always teamwork,” she said in an interview with RTE TV channel, answering the question whether the European Union should appoint an envoy for the Ukrainian negotiations.
⠀
According to Callas, there should be people in this group who know Russia well.
⠀
“There should be, so to speak, “good cops” and “bad cops.” But, of course, it is important that these people defend our interests,” she added.
⠀
However, before the start of negotiations, Europe needs to form its own position on security issues, Kallas said.
