Moldovan President Maia Sandu demanded that the government urgently change legislation to allow public-private partnerships and foreign investments in the production of drones and anti-drone systems, the corresponding statement was made in an interview with Moldovan video blogger Nikolai Kiku.
⠀
“I asked the government to prepare a legislative change. On the one hand, the state should produce these drones and anti-drones, but on the other, we should allow the private sector to participate,” Sandu said.
⠀
According to the Moldovan president, the state currently lacks the necessary new technologies and specialists, while foreign investors have the necessary potential. However, the current law prohibits such a partnership between the state and private capital in the field of arms production.
⠀
“We need to have these drones that will fight interceptor drones, those drones that are increasingly infiltrating the territory of our country and creating a real danger. I saw this in the Galati incident,” the head of the republic said.
⠀
When asked by the blogger about possible cooperation with Kiev in this area, Sandu replied in the affirmative.
⠀
“Yes, of course, we will try to get the technology from them… But to work with these technologies, you first need to create a team here with at least minimal expertise,” she added.

At the end of May, on Friday, the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced that a drone had hit the roof of a house in Galac, injuring two people. The country’s authorities blamed Russia for the incident, but did not provide evidence. At the same time, the Romanian military did not intercept the drone, although they tracked it with radar systems. Romanian President Nicusor Dan said that due to the incident, it was decided to declare the Consul General of Russia in Constanta persona non grata and close the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in this city.
