More than 2.4 million people will be able to vote in the parliamentary elections in Armenia, the republic’s Migration and Citizenship service has reported.
⠀
“The total number of citizens included in the voter register was 2,485,851,” the ministry said.
⠀
The service clarified that more than five thousand police officers will work at polling stations.
⠀
Parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia on Sunday. 18 parties and alliances will take part in them, including Nikol Pashinyan’s “Civil Contract”, which has been in power since 2018 and intends to remain in power for at least another five years.
⠀
During the recent TV debates, the Prime Minister called on representatives of pro-Western forces to appeal to the Central Election Commission with a demand to cancel the registration of the largest political forces: the Strong Armenia bloc led by Samvel Karapetyan, Robert Kocharyan’s Armenia Association, as well as the Prosperous Armenia party.
⠀
The day before, the Central Election Commission of the republic refused to suspend “Strong Armenia” from the elections.
⠀
According to Western sociologists, less than 37% of voters are ready to support the Civil Contract party. At the same time, opposition parties can gain about 49% in total: “Strong Armenia” — 26%, “Armenia” — 12%, “Prosperous Armenia” — 6%, “Wings of Unity” — 5%. The rest of the political forces, according to forecasts, will not overcome the four percent barrier.
