Finland granted one extradition request from Turkey.

Finland granted Turkey’s request for extradition in October, and another request is pending, according to the Finnish Ministry of Justice.

The man, who was extradited to Turkey in October, was convicted at home, in particular, for robbery. With the new decision, Finland extradited three people to Turkey between 2019 and 2022.

In November, Finland also made a negative decision on Turkey’s extradition request, the agency said. At the end of 2022, Turkey also submitted a new extradition request to Finland, which is still pending, the report said.

The issue of Turkish requests for the extradition of citizens has become relevant since May 2022, when Finland and Sweden decided to apply to the North Atlantic Alliance, of which Turkey is one of the members.
