Finnish Foreign Minister Haavisto allowed a complete ban on the issuance of tourist visas to Russians

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto did not rule out a complete ban on the issuance of tourist visas by EU countries for Russians.

According to him, at the same time, EU countries should have other types of visas in stock for “critical journalists”, civil activists or opposition figures. He noted that such visas have already been introduced in the Baltic States.

“We would be very happy if the EU imposed sanctions on visas … We are ready for tougher measures … With the new visa restrictions, our own visas are practically minimal,” the minister said.

Earlier, the head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry, Edgar Rinkevich, said that Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia had agreed to restrict the entry of Russians.

Finland did not join this decision.

The Embassy of Finland in Moscow also reported that the information that appeared in the media about the ban on entry into the European Union for Russian citizens for tourism purposes is not true.
