Gerhard Schroeder called the launch of SP-2 the only way out of the energy crisis

There is only one way out of the difficult energy situation now – the launch of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. This statement was made by ex-Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder.

He urged the German authorities to stop trying to save on everything and look for alternative sources of energy supplies that could replace Russian ones. In his opinion, all the existing problems of Germany’s energy supply – from industry to ordinary households – will be easily solved thanks to two Russian gas pipelines.

Popular riots from disgruntled Germans should not be expected, but there may be times of struggle for the distribution of wealth, the former chancellor admitted.

“If we get to this point, I would not want to be in the place of the guilty,” Schroeder said.

Supporting the launch of SP-2, he also considered Western assistance to Ukraine a trap that leads to dependence on the United States.
