Germany can do without gas from Russia in winter in case of energy savings

Germany can do without gas from Russia in the winter if it manages to save 210 TWh of electricity.

This became clear from the results of a study conducted by the German economist Rüdiger Bachmann from the American University of Notre Dame and representatives of the Munich IFO Institute and the University of Bonn.

Scientists believe that in order to achieve such savings, Germany needs to generate less electricity in gas-fired power plants, as well as reduce consumption at the domestic and industrial levels.

Earlier, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Paper Producers of Bavaria Juergen Schaller said that the cessation of gas supplies from Russia to Germany could adversely affect the production of paper products in Germany, including toilet paper.

Also, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that in Germany, a growing number of industries that have reduced production or closed due to increased gas prices.
